Welcome back to term 2/Sharing topics

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a restful holiday break! Just a reminder that this week is swimming. Please ensure that your child comes to school with their swimming gear and brings their puffer if they are asthmatic. They will need their puffer at the pool. We will be eating lunch at 12.20 and getting changed. We will be leaving school on the bus for 1.15pm. You are welcome to watch at the swimming centre. Hopefully we will arrive back at school in time for the 3.05pm bell. Students who go to OSHC will be getting changed back at school before going to OSHC.

Casual Day

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that Friday is a casual day and a gold coin donation is required. Have a safe holiday break and enjoy Easter time with your families. Thank you for your support this term. The children have learnt many things and are looking forward to learning about outer space next term.

Cheers

Karina

Gorge Wildlife Park

Hi Everyone,

On Saturday I had the pleasure of taking a Japanese exchange student and my family to the Gorge Wildlife Park. In my opinion it is better than Cleland. You can cuddle a koala at no extra cost per visitor and there are three sessions per day 11.30, 1.30 and 3.30pm. Many Aussie animals to see plus meerkats, otters, monkeys, alligators and a leopard. The park is situated in Cudlee Creek on Redden Drive. Well worth the trip if you are looking for something different to do in the holidays. I enjoyed my koala cuddle!

Cheers

Week 8/ Week 9/Week 10

Hi Everyone,

We have had a busy three weeks! In maths we have finished off place value and have been focussing on the language of time including seasons, names of the months and the order of them, calendars, days of the week, past, present and future. This week we have begun to tell the time using analogue and digital time. Year ones need to know o’clock and half past and the year twos need to know quarter past and quarter to. We have even played the game “What’s the time Mr Wolf”.

In literacy we have been working on the writing genre of procedure. A procedure is a written text that instructs the reader in how to make or do something. Examples of this type of writing are recipe books, or instructions in how to build furniture. We have learnt about proper nouns, plurals, adjectives and pronouns. As it was the 45th anniversary of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” book, we based a day of learning around Eric Carle’s famous book. We have continued to focus on accuracy and fluency in our reading and it was fantastic to hear that this work is transferring to their reading at home.

In Integrated studies we have continued our schoolyard safari work. We have classified mini beasts, made a 3D model, studied the life cycle of a butterfly, worked on a small animal description, and surveyed the class about our favourite mini beast. In Aboriginal Studies we learnt about “How the Birds Got Their Colours” and made a class book. We participated in St Patrick’s Day activities and Harmony Day activities with our big buddies and the student leaders.

Thank you to all of you for your participation in the student led discussions. It was great to finally meet everyone.

Cheers

Karina 🙂

Note reminders/Sports Day

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that there are a few notes outstanding. The swimming notes need to be returned as soon as possible and payment is required. Swimming is week one of term two. Please see the finance officer if you require any assistance. The Cyber Safety agreement note needs to be returned. If not returned your child will no longer be able to access the school computers and this will impact upon their learning.

Sports day is this Friday. The children can come dressed in their team colours. Please remember to be sun safe and wear appropriate clothing.

Thank you

Karina 🙂
