Premier’s Be Active Challenge

Hi Everyone,

As we are active with swimming this week, it is the perfect time to start the Premier’s Be Active Challenge. The students need to be active for a total of 50mins for 5 out of the seven days of the week. The challenge goes for 4 weeks and this week is Week One. In the communication books I have stapled the week one recording card and a list of activities that can be included. Simply tick the boxes that apply to the activities on that day. For today you can tick 4 boxes for swimming and that leaves just one other box to be ticked for activities for today. To successfully complete and achieve the challenge the students must participate in all four weeks. I will be checking the records before submitting the results. At the end the students receive a certificate or medal for their participation. Have fun being active.

Cheers

Karina 🙂

Week 11

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick reminder that swimming needs to be paid for this week if you have not done so, as Week One of Term 2 is the week we will be going. We will be attending the afternoon session. Please pack a dressing gown and thongs in with the swimming gear to make getting dressed after the session as quickly as possible.

On Thursday morning we will be attending an ANZAC Day service on site and each student will be placing a poppy beneath the flag pole as a sign of respect and remembrance.

Also this Friday is casual day. A gold coin donation is appreciated to help assist UNICEF who are raising funds and providing support to rebuild Vanuatu. One way we can help UNICEF with this project is to raise funds to buy a School-in-a-Box kit worth $237 which will support 40 students. Thanking you in advance for your support.

We are having an early dismissal at 2.05pm on Friday. Enjoy your holidays and keep safe. I look forward to seeing all the students smiling faces on the first Monday back.

Cheers

Karina

Dispositions for Learning

On Saturday the 28th March, Mrs Fisher, Mrs Patterson and I were fortunate enough to attend the “Re-imagining Childhood Professional Development Day” focussed on the “Dispositions for Learning”. We visited the St Peters Girls Early Learning Centre at Stonyfell and St Catherine’s Catholic School in Stirling, and the dispositions for learning were highly visible and evident in the classrooms that we visited. These dispositions are habits of mind that encourage learners to respond to learning experiences in particular ways. Our goal as teachers is to develop these dispositions in our students. We encourage all parents to help us to develop these dispositions in your children to ensure academic and social success.
Dispositions for Learning include:
Confidence
-“Willingness to have a go; to see things differently”
– Openness and risk taking
– The image of self as learner (“I can do this”)
– To enter into a learning situation
– To make own decisions
– To make choices
