Monday 20th Feb

Hi Everyone,

Just letting you know that on Monday I will not be in the classroom. Renee and I will be at a conference for Re-Imagining Childhood. Jessicca Dyer will be in my class and the children have already met her. I have left work for the day and have already placed next week’s sight words in the literacy folders. Have a good weekend.

Cheers

Karina

Thank you for coming to Acquaintance Night/Sharing info

Hi Everyone,

Thank you to the parents who took the time to come to Acquaintance Night. It was lovely to finally have a chat with you all and explain how the classroom runs. If you have any questions just come and ask. To the parents who couldn’t make it last night, I have placed a copy of the information I gave out in your child’s communication book.

Sharing/oral language has started this week and the children are doing really well learning the routine and expectations. I have stuck a copy of the schedule and what day your child’s sharing day is in the front cover of the communication book. I will also place a copy of the topics on the blog. The topics are linked to the many curriculum areas. It is expected that all children participate as the act of speaking is part of oral literacy in the English curriculum.

Thanks

Karina

Blog Guidelines

Blog Guidelines

Our class blog is a way for us to share our ideas and our learning with other people. Sharing our learning means that it is very important that we understand how to use the blog and the internet in a secure way.
The following guidelines have been established to ensure the safety of our students when blogging. The guidelines are also reminders of how to use the blog to improve writing and keyboarding skills.

• Student work will only be identified by first names. All comments should have first names only.
• Parents who leave comments are asked not to use last names either. (Please post comments as “Jimmy’s mum”
or “Megan’s grandfather”, etc.)
• All comments submitted have to be approved by Karina Galloway before they are included on the blog.
Inappropriate or sloppy writing will not be approved.
• Proof-read your comments carefully. Students should have a family member check for spelling mistakes before submitting a comment.
• Only Karina Galloway has access to post things on the blog. Later in the year, when students begin to write blog
entries, they will go through edits and revisions before Karina posts them.
• Always write in full sentences and words – no “text talk” please!

If you have any other questions or comments about the security of our blog, please contact Karina Galloway.

End of Week One Housekeeping

Hi Everyone,

I hope you have not found this week to be too overwhelming! The kids have settled really well and are beginning to understand our routines. Can you please bring in a named cushion for relaxation and sitting on. Also can you please send a framed photo of your family that we can display.

The readers need to read three days in a row and signed off in the Read Every Day book. At this stage the children need lots of repetition. Some students are beginning to recognise a few of the sight words that we have learnt so far.

We have spent a lot of time this week talking about our class rules, being a bucket filler or a bucket dipper. I have attached a link to our class agreements for you to talk about with your child. class agreements 2017

During acquaintance night I will explain filling bucket to you all.

Any question please come and see me.

Cheers

Karina
