The Difference Between Phonological Awareness, Phonemic Awareness, and Phonics
Hi Everyone,
As teachers, we spend a lot of time talking about and teaching Phonological Awareness, Phonemic Awareness, and Phonics. I have found the following article that explains the difference beautifully and I thought I would share it with you. http://speechisbeautiful.com/2016/12/phonological-awareness-phonemic-awareness-and-phonics/
On Monday notes will be coming home about the Student Led Discussions. The students had a great time working with the Police Officers on the Ride to School Day. On Tuesday it is Harmony Day and the students are encouraged to wear Orange clothing on this day.
Cheers

Sports Day Teams/Premier’s Be Active Challenge
Hi Everyone,
I hope you all had a restful long weekend. I have stuck the Premier’s Be Active recording sheet in the front cover of the communication book. The challenge goes for 10 weeks and I will collect them at the end. The students need to achieve 5 hours worth of activity per week (10 weeks) to complete the challenge. I have marked off all the activity for week one with swimming from last week.
At the bottom of this form I have written what sports day team and colour that your child is in. Your child doesn’t have to wear this colour if they do not want to, school uniform is fine.
Any questions please come and see me.
Cheers
Karina
Swimming Week/Be Active Challenge
Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that this week (week 6) is swimming. Please make sure that everything is named and swimming gear is brought to school in a small bag. Can you please send a dressing gown and thongs for wearing to and from the pool. The school clothes will not be coming with us to swimming. Be prepared for your children to be very tired this week.
This week is also the start of the ‘Be Active Challenge’. I will keep hold of the recording sheets for this week and then place them in the communication books next week for you to mark off. The challenge runs for 10 weeks.
Thanks
Karina.
